Why Was My Review Removed or Not Showing Up?

 

At ResellerRatings, we know how important your voice is—and we want to make sure every shopper has a chance to share their genuine experience. But sometimes, a review might not show up right away, or it might get taken down. We totally get how that can be confusing, so here’s a quick breakdown of why that might happen and what you can do about it.

We have a list of content guidelines and retailer flagging guidelines we follow.  We also have automated AI systems that are constantly preventing or checking, and double-checking content. 

We're always tweaking this and look forward to feedback. 

 

1. Our content moderation system caught your review

Maybe it was tonal, harsh language or gibberish - but our automatic tools which is a combination of custom and AI based tools might have caught your review.  The content and moderation system do NOT look at review scores in any capacity.    

 

2.  The review was reported by shoppers or a store

Anyone on the site can report a review for potential fake content, vulgarity or infringement.  We make it a policy to review these flagged reviews.  Byside each review is the ability to 'flag' it.

3. The review was flagged by a retailer -  What Happens When a Review is Flagged?

If someone (a store or another shopper) flags a review, our team manually reviews it against our content policy. We don’t automatically take it down just because someone doesn’t like it—we look at the facts.

Sometimes we may:

•Ask for more info from the reviewer

•Edit out a specific part (like a phone number)

•Remove it entirely if it breaks the rules

 

How to Get Your Review Published Again

We value every voice in our community — including critical ones — and we want your review to be seen! If your review was removed, it may have unintentionally gone against our content guidelines. Here’s how you can get it back up:

 

Check for Common Issues

Before resubmitting, please make sure your review doesn’t include:

Profanity, hate speech, or personal attacks

Private information (like phone numbers, email addresses, or names of individuals)

Spam, ads, or unrelated content

Fake or secondhand experiences (we want real, firsthand stories)

 

Make Simple Edits

If your review included one of the above, just edit it to:

•Keep it respectful and on-topic

•Focus on your experience with the product or brand

•Avoid mentioning specific people (unless it’s positive and appropriate)

Once you’ve updated your review, just resubmit it — we’ll recheck it and get it live as soon as it meets our community standards.

What can I do to get my review up?

Contact us directly, and we can take a look to see why it was flagged and how to remediate the issue directly.   Reviewers can always edit their reviews for re-submission if it hit one of our content policy moderation guidelines.
