Branding Guidelines & Usage of Logo

ResellerRatings (now transitioning to ShopperStream) emphasizes transparency, accuracy, and consistent branding.  We require you to use only their official tools and presentation formats to ensure that consumers aren’t misled.

Best Practices for Merchants

If You Use ResellerRatings / ShopperStream Store Ratings:

  1. Use official widgets, not static screenshots.  Free widgets are available.

  2. Include current score, star rating, review count or date, and link to your profile on resellerratings.com.

  3. Display the official logo alongside ratings—unaltered.

  4. Don’t edit brand assets, cherry-pick only good reviews, or suggest endorsement.

  5. Keep widgets relevant to the content they appear next to.

  6. If your subscription ends, stop using the branding/tools immediately.

. Requirement to Use Official Assets

  • All reviews displayed must be accompanied by the ResellerRatings name and logo  .

  • Only official ResellerRatings widgets or marketing assets provided in your ResellerRatings Business account may be used

2. Score Display & Date Requirements

  • ResellerRatings and Star Rating should be shown as calculated, often derived from all reviews.

3. Licensed Use Only

  • Only subscribers (free or paid) may use these assets;

  • Some advertising formats (like TV, radio, billboards) require ResellerRatings approval  .

4. Branding & Trademark Integrity

  • Brand assets must be used exactly as provided—correct spelling, capitalization, and format, per the trademark guidelines  .

  • Any use implying ResellerRatings endorsement or misleading affiliation is strictly prohibited  .

5. Misuse & Enforcement

  • Misuse includes using outdated or incorrect ResellerRatings Star Rating, using unauthorized widgets or static images, or misrepresenting ResellerRatings content  .

  • Businesses must adhere to ranking claim rules: eg. “Ranked #1 in [category] based on [xxx reviews]” must be verifiable and include a date or link

1. Misrepresentation of Scores

  • Altering or Falsifying Scores: Merchants may not change, round, or otherwise manipulate the ResellerRatings / ShopperStream Score or Star Rating.

    • Example of violation: Displaying a “4.9” when the current score is “4.7.”

  • Cherry-Picking Reviews: Highlighting only favorable reviews (e.g., showing only 5-star comments) without context is prohibited. All displayed reviews must reflect the genuine, representative customer experience.

2. Unauthorized Use of Assets

  • Static or Altered Graphics: Screenshots or manually recreated star ratings are not permitted, as they can quickly become outdated and mislead consumers.

  • Modifying the Logo: Merchants may not crop, distort, recolor, or abbreviate the ResellerRatings or ShopperStream logo.

  • Expired Licenses: Once a subscription ends, merchants must immediately cease use of ResellerRatings branding, widgets, and assets. Continuing to display them creates consumer deception and is considered brand misuse.

3. Contextual Misuse

  • Improper Placement: Widgets or ratings must be tied to the appropriate product, store, or service. For example, placing a seller rating next to a specific product listing may give the false impression that the product itself has been individually rated.

  • Unverified Endorsements: Merchants may not suggest that ResellerRatings / ShopperStream endorses, recommends, or guarantees their store or products.

4. Enforcement Actions

ResellerRatings / ShopperStream reserves the right to take enforcement action in cases of non-compliance, including but not limited to:

  • Notice of Violation: Formal communication to the merchant with required corrective actions.

  • Widget Deactivation: Immediate disabling of rating widgets or API access if branding is misused.

  • Suspension of Services: Temporary or permanent suspension of account access for repeated violations.

  • Public Clarification: Issuing corrective statements if consumer deception is significant.

  • Legal Remedies: In cases of willful misuse, fraud, or infringement of trademarks/brand assets, ResellerRatings may pursue legal action to protect consumers and brand integrity.

Failure to comply will leave us no choice but to escalate this matter through:

  • Formal trademark enforcement actions,

  • Filing complaints with Google, advertising platforms, and consumer protection agencies,

  • Public advisories clarifying unauthorized and misleading use of our assets.

We strongly encourage stores to work with us to be in compliance.

6. Examples of Violations

  • Displaying a higher score than shown in the official ResellerRatings dashboard.

  • Using the logo without a linked profile or outdated review count.

  • Continuing to show images of widgets or scores without using proper methods

  • Placing reviews in advertising campaigns without proper subscription rights or approvals.

  • Altering the visual style of star ratings to mimic ResellerRatings but misrepresent the source.
